I’ve always loved being outdoors — walking, hiking, and exploring on foot, whether at home or abroad.

Over the years, that’s taken me through Korea’s coastal and mountain trails, including three full completions of Busan’s Galmaetgil, an 8-peak traverse of the Yeongnam Alps, and multiple full crossings of Busan’s five major mountains. I also completed winter mountaineering training with a Korean alpine club back in 2004, and I’ve taken part in organized walking programs like Busan’s Galmaetgil Travel School for several seasons running.

More recently, I’ve extended that habit abroad — walking urban trail routes through Fukuoka, Japan, and the Hitsu-shima to Izuhara route on Tsushima Island, each for three years in a row.

I get out hiking or walking at least eight times a month, usually around Busan. This site grew out of that habit — a way to share the parts of Korea’s outdoors and everyday walking culture that don’t usually make it into a typical travel itinerary: the temples along the trail, the coastal paths, the small routines of an outdoor life here.
