I’ve always loved being outdoors: walking, hiking, and exploring on foot, whether at home or abroad.

Over the years, that’s taken me through Korea’s coastal and mountain trails, including three full completions of Busan’s Galmaetgil, an 8-peak traverse of the Yeongnam Alps, and multiple full crossings of Busan’s five major mountains. I also completed winter mountaineering training with a Korean alpine club back in 2004, and I’ve taken part in organized walking programs like Busan’s Galmaetgil Travel School for several seasons running.

More recently, I’ve extended that habit abroad, walking urban trail routes through Fukuoka, Japan, and the Hitakatsu to Izuhara route on Tsushima Island, each for three years in a row.

I get out hiking or walking at least eight times a month, usually around Busan. This site grew out of that habit, as a way to share the parts of Korea’s outdoors and everyday walking culture that don’t usually make it into a typical travel itinerary: the temples along the trail, the coastal paths, the small routines of an outdoor life here.

That experience shows most directly in the trail guides, such as Hiking in Korea and the Seoul Dulle-gil trail guide. Broader guides on topics like festivals, food or K-pop are researched from official tourism and city sources rather than written from personal visits; our content principles explain how we check them.
