Who runs thebeautyroad.com
thebeautyroad.com is an English-language Korea travel guide operated by Ojick.com.
We write for first-time visitors and for expats living in Korea, and we try to cover the practical side that a list of famous sights leaves out: what needs booking, when a place is at its best, how to get there on public transport, and which details tend to catch visitors out.
About Ojick.com
Ojick.com was founded in Korea in 2012, working in software development and digital marketing. thebeautyroad.com is a separate content project run by our founder, Jungmin Shin, and team. It grew out of the founder’s long habit of hiking and walking, mostly around Busan.
Why We Started This Site
Seeing Korea isn’t only about checking famous landmarks off a list. There are mountains and forests near the city, coastal trails, quiet traditional temples, and countless spots where nature and local culture come together.
thebeautyroad.com exists to explain Korea in a way that’s easy for foreign visitors to follow, with the practical details needed to plan a real visit, from the big cities to the trails and temples around them.
What We Cover
Our guides currently cover:
- City guides: Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Daegu and Jeju
- Hiking and trekking, including the Seoul Dulle-gil
- Seasons: cherry blossoms, summer, winter and when to go
- Food, markets and dining etiquette
- Traditional temples and temple stays
- Traditional culture, hanbok and hanok
- Itineraries and trip planning
- Experiences such as jjimjilbang, K-pop spots and festivals
For each place, we try to answer the practical questions: what the experience is actually like, the best time to go, how to get there, and how much time to set aside.
How Our Guides Are Put Together
Not every guide is based on a recent visit to every place it mentions. Opening hours, fees, reservation rules and transport details are checked against official sources, such as the Korea Tourism Organization, city governments and the national park service, and those sources are listed at the bottom of each guide. Most guides do not yet include our own photographs.
Guides are drafted with AI assistance, which our content principles page discloses, along with how we check facts and handle corrections.
Current Coverage
We currently publish in English. Most guides cover Seoul and nationwide trip planning, with city guides to Busan, Incheon, Daegu and Jeju, and we add and update guides as we go.
For Our Readers
If you’re new to Korea, a lot of the practical details aren’t obvious, so we try to be specific about transport, time needed, bookings, difficulty and what to bring.
If you notice an error or something has changed, please let us know through our contact page. Reader feedback helps us keep the information accurate.
We hope the guides help you spend less time planning and more time out in Korea’s cities, mountains and coast.
